Tetra Pak Malaysia is at the forefront of transforming the food and beverage sector by showcasing its innovative processing and packaging solutions at the Malaysian International Food & Beverage (MIFB) Trade Fair 2026. This event, which took place from July 15 to 17, 2026, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, allowed Tetra Pak to highlight how data-driven automation, localized co-packing, and new plant proteins can expedite market entry and foster sustainable growth for manufacturers in the region. During the three-day fair, Tetra Pak engaged with a wide range of industry professionals, reflecting a robust regional interest in smart manufacturing and sustainable food systems.
A significant feature of their exhibition was Tetra Pak’s comprehensive ecosystem, which enables food and beverage manufacturers to move smoothly from concept development to large-scale production. By utilizing Tetra Pak’s local facilities and a broad regional co-packing network, brands can now test, refine, and introduce new products with considerably reduced initial capital investment. John Jose, the Marketing Director for Tetra Pak Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Indonesia, emphasized that their participation in MIFB highlights their dedication to assisting food and beverage manufacturers in preparing for future challenges through innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support long-term growth.

He noted that by consolidating product development, processing, and packaging within a unified framework, they empower local brands to mitigate risks, speed up market entry, and efficiently scale to seize both domestic and export opportunities. To address the increasing demand for health, wellness, and convenience, Tetra Pak showcased several rapidly growing categories, including ready-to-drink coffee, tea, and plant-based nutrition. Among the highlights was a novel sunflower-based protein beverage prototype, which provided attendees with a firsthand look at a scalable, cost-effective, and allergen-friendly alternative to conventional plant proteins.
This innovative beverage boasts a remarkable 50% protein content and a digestibility rate of 98%, significantly surpassing traditional plant bases and offering brands a premium option for differentiation. In addition to product innovation, Tetra Pak presented Tetra Recart®, a carton-based packaging solution for shelf-stable foods that serves as a contemporary alternative to traditional cans and jars, achieving up to an 85% reduction in carbon emissions throughout the supply chain while ensuring optimal food safety and shelf life. A diverse assortment of packaging sizes was also featured, ranging from compact, portion-sized formats suitable for on-the-go consumption to larger family sizes intended for home use, specifically designed to meet various consumption occasions and manufacturing needs across Southeast Asia.
Sustainability and digital transformation were central to Tetra Pak’s presence at the exhibition, with technical experts conducting two well-attended conference sessions to discuss the future of smart manufacturing. In the session titled “Tetra Pak® Factory OS™: Your Competitive Edge in Malaysian F&B Manufacturing,” speakers highlighted how data analytics, automation, and IoT-driven digital tools can minimize operational downtime and enhance resource efficiency. A second session, “Accelerate Innovation in Coffee, Tea and Protein Beverages with Tetra Pak Integrated Solutions,” offered a practical framework for agile product formulation and sustainable manufacturing practices in high-growth beverage segments.
As Malaysian manufacturers adapt to stricter environmental regulations and evolving consumer preferences, Tetra Pak reiterated its commitment to providing solutions that reduce water, energy, and product waste, thereby supporting the local industry in achieving its net-zero goals.
